X-Rays, Ultrasounds, BMD, and PACS in Toronto, Hamilton, St. Catharines & Niagara Area

X-Rays

GNMI XrayX-ray studies utilize low level ionizing radiation to produce radiographs which can then be used to evaluate for disease processes involving the skeletal system as well as soft tissues such as the lungs and bowel. X-ray studies can be obtained quickly on a walk-in basis at all 3 of our locations in St. Catharines and Niagara Falls and do not require any patient preparation.

Ultrasounds

Ultrasound (sonogram) is a widely used diagnostic tool which utilizes sound waves to visualize internal organs, soft tissues, blood vessels and flow, and reproductive tract for pathologic conditions . Ultrasound has many uses including examining the abdomen, female reproductive system, fetuses, breasts, blood vessels, and joints such as the shoulder. Ultrasound does not use ionizing radiation. Please see Patient Resources for preparation instructions.

Bone Mineral Density

Bone mineral density studies (DXA), is used primarily to evaluate for bone loss and determine whether you have or are at risk of developing osteoporosis. DXA is also effective in monitoring osteoporosis treatment and other conditions that cause bone loss. DEXA is most often performed on the lower spine and hips. Please see Patient Resources for preparation instructions.

PACS – Digital Imaging

Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) is in use at all Greater Niagara Medical Imaging clinics. PACS allows our radiologists as well as the referring physician to view the patient’s diagnostic imaging exam instantly on their computers. Digital imaging minimizes patient wait and study times, and improves patient care. In addition, we can provide you with a copy of your exam on CD upon request.
